We were a home-based boutique offering a one-of-a-kind shopping experience in store. Our roots are based in exceptional customer service whilst offering a full wardrobe experience to suit your style, shape, and pocket. Founded by Sara Louise, the business was created to offer specifically unique fashion at affordable prices, hand-picked from the latest trends. The Secret Wardrobe took the decision to move to online in December 2019 before the lockdown in March 2020. Crucially and pre-emptively, this allowed more customers to benefit from our impressive range of coordinated outfits and accessories which resulted in warehousing where orders are picked, packed, and shipped. Our mission

Although The Secret Wardrobe has travelled a long way in a small space of time, naturally there will be change as the business grows; However, there are many things that won’t. Our leaders have non-negotiables that are unwavering and at the core of what we do: Engaged people make this business sustainable; whether it be a customer or a team member, it is believed that giving back and supporting everyone as much as we can is not only pivotal, but essential.

Our vision

We, and the clothes aim to provide excitement, fulfilment, with the creation of happy memories for everyone that engages with us. Our purpose Every year the business has donated 10% of its profits back to the local and extending community. Whether it be donating to charitable events, providing gifts, vouchers, support to vulnerable people in need or providing once in a lifetime experience. We are committed to operating in a way that gives back, even if that is just from an entertainment point of view. Business life for us is not all about selling beautiful clothes, but what those clothes represent.

About us

Sara In early 2019 a shoulder injury reluctantly forced Sara to leave her loved career as a community NHS dental nurse. Through years of helping thousands of patients since dental school, she left the NHS. ‘The Secret Wardrobe’ was a brainchild devised through a necessity to work, a free garage space, to have something that was flexible and ‘part time’ so she could also spend time with her family, and through a love of dressing well.

Her vision: To allow every women access to beautiful affordable fashion. Fast forward to the start of her third year in business (2022) and still no shoulder operation, despite daily pain “because I don’t have time”. Sara has made massive strides without realising it. Through pain, covid-19, pivoting to online, and taking on her first employee – The Amazing LYN; they have quadrupled the amount of ladies they can dress but never lost the compassion and love required to assist ladies in choosing outfits that suit their style, body shape, preference, and pocket. The care she naturally put into nursing now shows through in dressing ladies to look their best with a personal shopper experience that can now be done online. As such she has become friends and assessable to most of her 12K and growing followers on Facebook alone; her weekly videos attract thousands of views.

However, Sara has always gone above and beyond to please customers, not only with orders, but even lending an ear to those that visited the shop (now currently closed). Even though the business demand had turned into a 7 day a week job, she was always willing to sacrifice her needs for people that need it. It was never about the money; she just wanted a part time job so she could spend time with the family, but without realising it, her family grew; to ladies that came to visit to talk about their lives as much as they came to feel good about the clothes they wore. Sara is our magnetic and empathetic leader of which people are drawn to and inspired by. She radiates authenticity, honesty and is still unaware of the positive impact she has on those that meet her.

Lyn

The self-titled ‘Five foot and a smidge’ and creator of ‘Lyn’s Looks’. Lyn has taken ‘The Secret Wardrobe’ to a new level. Her invaluable and vast knowledge of style, scarfs, and all things beautiful has given a new dimension to the videos and outfit creations that the audience have come to expect. Lyn provides everything from scarf magnets, infectious laughs and a level of support, guidance and loyalty that cannot be replicated; she really is the backbone of the business. The saying ‘Everyone needs a Lyn!’ is echoed around the newly built warehouse as she co-ordinates the warehouse, the orders and along with Sara, creates the outfits and drives the customer service to give the best they can with such a small team.

Lyn, a recently retired new homes sales advisor has worked with the public most of her working life. She loves speaking to customers, giving great service, and putting the latest outfits together for the Facebook Lives. I must say that although we are a little biased, she is the best thing that has happened to ‘The Secret Wardrobe’. Every day is a pleasure to work with her! Her drive, honesty, humility, and shear excitement every time she comes to work is inspirational to all around her.
